I voted other because I don't mind a bit to receive something used that's in good shape. I also would give it but not as a gift. If I gave something used to someone it would be just a random giving but a gift for an occasion such as bday, Christmas etc, I would do new only.
I would accept used on those occasions no problem but I would like to try to do new gifts to give if that makes sense.
Nope. MIL gives used gifts 90% of the time, most the time she doesn't even bother to clear the dust off. Gifts are something that should say "I went out looking for something that you would like and this reminded me of you" not "I needed to clear out some space in my house and I thought you might use this"
Hand-me-downs are wonderful, and always appreciated, but they are not gifts.
I said not a fan but would clarify that to mean when it is gifts for birthdays, holidays, etc. Like everyone else, I don't mind getting used things and I buy M used clothes at the consignment store frequently but I don't think you should gift used things "gift" holidays.

I voted depends on situation. My mom gave DD1 a bassinet-sized crib for Christmas that both she and I used as babies. I also used it and remember it for my dolls growing up. DD1 loves it. I have received other heirloom gifts of this type and love them (usually).
Definitely don't want random shit from someone's house though....
One of E's favorite toys was used, given to us by our old next door neighbors.
I should clarify, normally I wouldn't give used stuff unless it came up in conversation or something and the person wanted it, and visa versa. Our neighbors had a daughter that was like 2 at the time and they were trying to teach her about sharing and giving, so I found the sentiment quite sweet.
