DH caught a cold, so last night was pretty low key. We lit the menorah, had chili for dinner and then watched a couple episodes of Jessica Jones. On Saturday we've invited some friends over for brisket and latkes, which will be fun. I've never made my grandma's brisket recipe myself before, but it looks pretty easy and can get mostly cooked the day before which is nice!
For those celebrating Chanukah, what are your plans?

I am sure they will turn out wonderfully, family recipes are the best!
No plans other than a couple holiday parties. :}
V was baptized this past weekend, it was nice. Her Dr's are happy she is gaining weight, apparently the waking up in the night to feed her thing is working and her lack of weight gain is partly due to her ability to sleep through the night.

bonzo2012 I think so, the deacon and everyone said congratulations. It's a right of passage into the church and an agreement with the parents to raise her in the Christian faith, so I believe that is okay!

Congratulations, missjenniebean! Did you guys have a reception after V's baptism? We had a big family dinner after C's naming ceremony - it was so fun having our whole family there!
bonzo2012 - That tree is SO cute! What a great idea! Maybe I'll get the hubs something like that next year for Chrismukah. This year's ornament was Darth Vader in an ugly Christmas sweater. I am definitely not opposed to having that up at my house
Our Chanukah was pretty low-key! We went to a baby Chanukah party at temple, and FaceTimed with my parents one night to light the candles. Last night I set off the smoke alarm because I had too many chanukiot burning at once. Oops.
bonzo2012, how are you liking Jessica Jones? Hubs and I have been watching it and I am OBSESSED. We have two episodes left. I suspect I like it more than he does because of all the badass women in it
toratoratori, DH and I loved Jessica Jones! We finished it last week. We kept ourselves to only 1-2 episodes a night, after one night when we tried watching 3 and then I had nightmares about Kilgrave. I'm hoping they do another season, and I also saw on IMDB that they might be doing a Luke Cage show so that will be interesting too.

Um, YES, give that handsome man his own show plz. I have been missing him in the last few episodes!
We've had to keep it to 1-2 episodes a night, too. I have some personal history (sexual assault survivor) that makes the show tough for me to watch, but I just love it SO MUCH, but I need to try to moderate so I take it easy on my feelings, because I have A LOT of them.
I can imagine that would make it hard to watch, toratoratori. There were a lot of scenes that made me uncomfortable, and I haven't been through anything like that so don't have the personal triggers. I was really impressed with Krysten Ritter's portrayal though, I read an interview where she said she really wanted to do justice to what PTSD is instead of the watered down version you see so often in the media. And I love that the character takes what happened and is just that much more determined and strong -- I think we need more examples of women like that!
